Praying For Your Prodigal Spouse

Someone once asked why some people don’t come back after a divorce. My response is this: The spouse probably moved on and spent little time praying and seeking God about restoration. How important is prayer? When we pray, the kingdom of God advances, and heaven and earth move together in harmony. Yes, God can do anything he wants but waits on our prayers to proceed.

Picture it like an airstrike, the enemy is on the ground, and a soldier immediately sees the threat. He calls in the coordinates, and the target is struck with pinpoint accuracy. I’m going to show you in the book of Daniel how heaven moves upon our prayers and why praying is critical for winning this battle.

Daniel and The Angel

Daniel 10:12-13
Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

Why did the angel appear to Daniel? Because his words were heard (prayer). Did God already know of Daniel’s problems? Yes, God is omnipresent and is everywhere at the same time. He knows all things. Next, we see that once Daniel’s prayers were heard, the angel made his way to deliver his message but was opposed by the Prince of Persia (A Fallen Angel), where he battled for twenty-one days. Because Daniel kept fasting and praying, reinforcements were sent to free the angel so he could make it to Daniel.

Our Prayers Will Bring Prodigals Home

Yes, God can do anything he wants but still calls us to pray.  Have you ever wondered why we have to pray if God already knows everything? He knows every problem, every bit of sickness, trouble, and evil thing that comes our way, and yet we’re still called to pray. God gives us the responsibility to make things in the supernatural move into the natural. He calls on us to pray for anything and everything we’ll ever face in life. Many times prodigals don’t come home because they have no one calling in heavens airstrikes. They move on, date, or give up on their loved ones before giving God a chance.

People Limit God’s Power With Doubt

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

If you notice, the verse says WHATEVER you ask in prayer, you will have if you believe. It doesn’t give a list of exceptions or say see attachment for details. The problem is God’s timing is not our timing. We want him to answer us right away, and when he doesn’t, we grow impatient, which leads us to doubt his promises.

A Rule For Answered Prayers

In John, we find a requirement for answered prayers. I think most people miss this while asking the Lord for specific requests.

John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

We have to make God the number one priority in our life. We have to choose his calling over our desires. We must seek him daily and have a personal relationship with him. Many people live in sin and only cry out to God when they’re desperate. Why don’t they get what they ask for? Because they didn’t abide in him. God knows who follows him and who is using him for answered prayers and salvation alone.

When We Don’t Know What To Pray For

Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Many times when I don’t know what to pray for, I’ll ask the Holy Spirit to pray for me. This verse tells us the SPIRIT himself will pray for us! Think about how wonderful that is.

The Secret To Job’s Restoration

I’m going to share a verse that many people don’t know. After everything Job lost while under his fiery trial, God finally restored all he had plus more. What was it Job had to do before God could bring his restoration? Let’s take a look.

Job 42:10
And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

So, when did God restore all Job had? WHEN HE PRAYED FOR HIS FRIENDS! Please remember that God asks us to pray for others. We’re in a battle, but so are many others we love. I believe we need to focus more on praying for others than praying for ourselves.

In Ephesians, we are reminded that we must pray for ALL OF THE SAINTS.

Ephesians 6:18
Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Again, I think the secret to answered prayers is found in our ability to pray for others. It shows a humble heart. Someone who is self-focused is typically prideful, and we know what the bible says about pride.

James 4:6
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

Another word for grace is FAVOR!

I hope this helped!
