Divorce And The Spirit Of Jezebel

I often hear people say things like my spouse has the Spirit of Jezebel. This is not an accurate statement. Jezebel was a human, not a demon. She is very much so dead and not able to influence anyone or anything. Jezebel had the Spirit of witchcraft, which is the Spirit of rebellion. Brother Derek Prince describes witchcraft as the ancient religion of fallen humanity. It was when the human race turned from God in rebellion; the power that moved in was witchcraft.

The main objective of witchcraft is control. Anytime control or power is being sought after, you can bet the Spirit of witchcraft powers it.

Three Characteristics of Jezebel In Marriages

There are three characteristics of witchcraft that many of us can identify in our spouses.

  • Manipulation
  • Intimidation
  • Domination

Usually, when someone realizes they are weaker than the person they desire to control, they will use manipulation. If someone is stronger or bigger, they may use intimidation. The end goal is to dominate—that is, to control others and get them to do what we want. When someone breaks a covenant, they are rebelling against the word of God. They seek to excuse this behavior and manipulate others around them to justify their choice to divorce.

Maybe they had an argument, and their husband pushed them, so they say, “He was abusive, you don’t understand, I had to run to save my life!” The truth may be that they are lusting after a man they’ve been having an emotional affair with, but that would never justify a divorce. Every man and woman I’ve heard give excuses for the divorce has failed to realize that It’s still rebellion against God’s law.

A husband who intimidates or forces his wife to do certain things is most likely under the powers of witchcraft. Maybe they use scripture to get sex, or say things like “I’m the man, and you will listen to me!” With men, the Spirit usually seeks power by dominance. Although while trying to justify a divorce, manipulation can be used by both parties.

The Main Tool of Witchcraft is Guilt

You may see your wife manipulate with tears and hurt feelings to produce guilt. You’ve heard the expression, “They guilted me into it.” It amazes me how many divorced individuals think they can fool God by their “poor me” speech. God’s laws don’t change for anyone or anything. You can’t outsmart or fool God, but you can fool yourself and bring curses where there should be blessings. GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED!

You may hear your spouse say, “If you love me, you’ll watch this show with me” it may seem cute, but it’s a sure sign someone is under the influence of demonic power. A child that wants to manipulate parents may ask a parent for some candy while having a meaningful conversation, knowing they would do anything to avoid being distracted.

We have to wake up and realize that the desire to control others is evil and a manipulative force that must be dealt with. Divorce is simply a rebellion against marriage. God made marriage, and the rebellion against marriage is divorce.

Marriage = Good, Holy, made by God
Divorce = Bad, Evil, and is rebellious against God.

We can see the Spirit of witchcraft alive in well in many churches today. The pastor asks for donations and quickly shows pictures of starving children around the world. He does a sermon about how avoiding what you see is shameful, and if you love humanity, you will give! Or how about doing a lecture about how much God will bless you if you give to his church! Right after the sermon ends, a red bucket makes its way around the church. This Spirit is destroying our church, countries, and the entire world morally and spiritually.

Where does the idea of divorce come from?

Let’s take a look at what the bible has to say.

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

We know that demonic spirits operate through humans. Demons are persons without bodies. They take on personalities in even the people we love. This can be a friend who gives terrible advice, a co-worker who lies for you, or a family member who tells you to divorce. They may be the messenger, but the idea comes from demonic forces operating through their minds. Demons speak in the first person, so what you think is a thought, maybe a demonic force talking to you, and when those demons speak through the lips of those we love, they can lead us to do evil.

“You don’t need to stay married, do what makes you happy!” they tell you. But is that what God’s word says? We know the bible says God hates divorce. These people use witchcraft to manipulate those of us who are naive.

Romans 16:18
For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

We have to be real with ourselves. Who are we trying to please? Friends, family members who buy a lie, or the God we claim to serve and follow?

Galatians 1:10
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Jezebel: The Powerful Demonic Force

I must warn you, the Spirit of Jezebel (rebellion) is very powerful. If it brings fear, lust, and needs many prayers to be dealt with. One pastor who had a deliverance service said he was shocked as even the name of Jesus wouldn’t remove a demonic force from a person struggling with demonic oppression. Another said he did a sermon on Jezebel, and for an entire month, his family came under attack by the enemy. We find in the bible that one of the most influential prophets in history was, for some reason, terrified at Jezebel and chose to hide from her. It wasn’t the woman he was afraid of but the powers that controlled her.

1 Kings 19:2-5
She sent a message to Elijah: “You killed my prophets. Now I’m going to kill you! I pray that the gods will punish me even more severely if I don’t do it by this time tomorrow.”
Elijah was afraid when he got her message, and he ran to the town of Beersheba in Judah. He left his servant there, then walked another whole day into the desert. Finally, he came to a large bush and sat down in its shade. He begged the Lord, “I’ve had enough. Just let me die! I’m no better off than my ancestors.” Then he lay down in the shade and fell asleep.

What would make one of the most powerful prophets in history scared of a woman ruler? That fear comes from the powers of witchcraft. I often found myself scared to read text from my wife, scared to say no to her, worried about what she would do next. God showed me finally that it wasn’t her I was fearful of, it was the demonic power controlling her.

In one sermon, a very highly esteemed pastor said that he believes 90% of divorces come from witchcraft. This makes sense because someone would have to rebel against God’s word to have a divorce. Don’t be surprised to find yourself scared, have nightmares of snakes, demons, and so forth while standing. Don’t be shocked if they are lying, manipulating, sneaking, and using flattery to control you. It’s all part of the Spirit. We must armor up and prepare with the supernatural forces of Jezebel.  Another way of control is through seduction.  Men often will be seduced by a woman who has an agenda.

Pray Daily To Destroy Jezebel From Your Spouse

Pray daily that your loved one is released from this power. You should fast often and ask God to bring them to the end of themselves and remove all rebellion from your spouse. God can and will restore your marriage and take back what the Spirit of witchcraft spent years tearing apart.

Let us join hands and fight the Spirit of rebellion through fasting and praying. We will win this battle!
